About Us

The Texas Chapter of SLA represents over 300 information professionals working in areas including academia, energy, biomedical and consumer products.

What is an “information professional? “An Information Professional (“IP”) strategically uses information in his/her job to advance the mission of the organization. This is accomplished through the development, deployment, and management of information resources and services. The IP harnesses technology as a critical tool to accomplish goals. IPs include, but are not limited to, librarians, knowledge managers, chief information officers, web developers, information brokers, and consultants.”

Whether it’s in the oil capital of Houston, tech center of Austin or corporate headquarters in Plano, SLA Texas Chapter Information Professionals are working hard to fuel business in Texas.
